Gavin O'Mara
Well-rounded engineering student at Stevens Institute of Technology, studying Mechanical Engineering and gaining experience across software, AI/ML, and hands-on product development. Driven to tackle challenges from multiple perspectives.

About me
I'm a mechanical engineering student at Stevens Institute of Technology with a concentration in AI and ML, and a member of Launchpad—Stevens' selective entrepreneurship program. I've combined engineering rigor with product-building: from full-stack work at Quanxiom to co-founding FixIt, an AI-powered repair assistance app that I've pitched to 150+ investors at Plug and Play, and competed in and won 2 pitch competitions for pre seed funds.
I've also spent time in verification & validation at Defibtech (automating test fixtures, C++, SolidWorks, 3D printing) and in quality and process improvement at Microboard. Outside of tech, I was captain of varsity lacrosse, US Lacrosse Academic All-American, and involved in multiple honor societies. I'm looking for internship and full-time opportunities where I can ship code, learn from great teams, and contribute from day one.
Experience
Contributed to an innovative business management platform. Expanded full-stack development skills on both front-end and back-end features. Integrated AI/ML models into the platform to enhance functionality and streamline repetitive tasks.
- Automated a testing device for ARM RX chest compression performance validation: software-driven stepper motor control, C++ OLED display, SolidWorks design and 3D-printed prototypes.
- Executed test protocols after software and hardware updates to verify AED user interfaces and hardware changes.
Reviewed training materials, implemented a new quality system, and collaborated on process improvements and documentation. Researched and qualified external providers against certifications and standards.

My apps
Gainzzz
Gainzzz started as a simple fitness tracking tool I built for myself, driven by a nerdy obsession with optimization and a desire to focus on real progress. After refining it through daily use and seeing how effective the approach was, it grew beyond a personal project and launched publicly so others could train with the same clean, results-driven system.
FixIt
AI-powered repair assistance so users can fix broken items themselves or connect with pros. Currently exploring B2B partnerships to bring the app to businesses and organizations.
